Wachs P-3 (Part Number 83-0000-01) is a all new, innovative battery powered portable valve exercising machine, taking its place as the most technologically advanced handheld on the market. The P-3 is engineered primarily for the demanding task of exercising underground water main valves to AWWA standards, while also providing smooth, reliable operation of hydrants.

PORTABLE

The P-3 is highly portable, needing no cords, invertors, or hydraulics to operate. Light for its power and capabilities, it’s ready to run, simply set it on a valve key and start your valve exercise program. An advanced ergonomic form factor with dual positioning handles make it quick and easy to move from valve to valve.

POWERFUL

The machine is extremely powerful - driven by an industrial grade 1.5 HP BLDC motor and 56V battery that will exercise up to 60 valves daily, the P-3 delivers up to 200 ft/lbs of continuous torque. Its designed to turn all but the largest or fully stuck valves. A precision machined worm drive geartrain prevents “back drive”, allowing full manual use of the tool.

PROTECTIVE

it’s designed to be protective of both the operator and the valve. The P-3 is torque-limited to 200 ft-lbs to provide effective performance while helping reduce the risk of operator injury. It’s unique “torque-away”
ergonomics further supports safe operation. Integrated high-visibility safety lights help keep operators seen when working in or near roadways.

P-3 Features

• Valve and Hydrant Exerciser. Designed to facilitate quick and easy compliance within an established water valve and hydrant exercise program, reducing or eliminating the need for pneumatic, hydraulic, or corded electric powered tools or dedicated platforms for simple, routine valve maintenance.
• Highly Portable Design. Battery operated handheld valve exerciser/turner/operator with innovative new ergonomic design, built for ease of use and operator safety, eliminating the need for external pneumatic, hydraulic, or electrical power sources in the field. Easy to carry, weighing just over 37 lbs (16.8 Kg) with battery installed, just over 30 lbs (14 Kg) without.
• Wide Application Range. Built to operate and exercise most vertical and horizontal water valves ranging from 4 to 60 inch (10.2 to 152.4 cm), plus hydrants (with optional hydrant key, sold separately). Portable yet powerful, it can deliver up to 200 ft/lbs continuous running torque to operate lightly tuberculated or moderately stuck valves.
• Maintenance Free Design. Powerful sealed maintenance free brushless DC motor energized by an industry leading 56V, 8.7Ah, 438 Wh lithium-ion removable, rechargeable battery designed for all day operation. Drive motor has over temperature thermal protection; airflow exits away from the operator through the housing bottom.
• Long Lasting Battery. Designed for all day usage, tested at approximately 5,000 complete turns per charge which equates to exercising 60 valves per day. (Assumes a typical 12 inch valve requiring 12 ft/lbs of torque running through one complete cycle of 80 turns, 40 to open - 40 to close, under ideal load and temperature conditions. Recharges quickly from fully discharged to fully charged, typically within two hours.
• Easy to Setup. See through EasyKey tapered valve key alignment hub with stainless steel protector plate, allowing the user to quickly see and place the machine on the valve key in seconds, ready to begin the exercising procedure.
• Easy to Run. Designed for one man operation with "handlebar" style controls featuring forward throttle on one side, reverse throttle on the other, eliminating the need to remount the machine or relocate the operator to maintain the recommended safe "torque-away" tool operation. With no motor or gear backdriving the P-3 can also be used in a fully manual mode as required.
• Quiet Operation.  Electric drive motor is extremely quiet running, requiring no hearing PPE protection and offering better situational awareness to the operator. Battery operation is a plus for nearby residences or businesses, eliminating the need for engine driven compressors, hydraulic power supplies or invertors while performing the valve exercising routine.
• Safe Operation. Two forward facing bright amber LED flashing strobes help identify the operator's location to oncoming traffic. Two powerful downward facing white LED lamps illuminate the work area. All metal chassis and geartrain are encased in a heavy duty, two piece, nonconductive, high-impact strength polycarbonate housing. The P-3’s built-in ergonomic screen and handles are designed to accommodate gloved operation.
